2012 Calendar

March 31: The first CCHH SOUPER BOWL at the VFW Post #2782, 61 East Main Street (across from Topp's Market), in Norwich, NY. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., there will be 20-30 great hot soup choices, all you can eat, and bread/rolls donated by the area's fine restaurants. Taste and vote for your favorite soups! Participate in a "Chinese Auction" (a silent auction) for fabulous gifts donated by merchants from all over Chenango County, a 50-50 raffle, and a bake sale table.

Entertainment will be hosted by everybody's favorite emcee, Jim Baldwin from Oxford. Wonderful musical entertainers will be Kevin LaDue, from Whitney Point, Kaitlyn Jackson, from Norwich, and Brian Murphy from Norwich, performing for your dining enjoyment!

2011 Calendar - Past Events

November 12th: CCHH partnered with St. Paul's Episcopal Church Outreach Committee in Oxford, NY, for the 1st annual CCHH Fall Dinner. The ham dinner was held Saturday, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the St. Paul's Parish Hall, 32 Main Street. Guests enjoyed a tasty, home-cooked meal of baked ham with a raisin-sauce glaze, sweet potato “Casa”-role (pun intended), fresh broccoli salad, apple sauce, dinner roll, beverage, and of course, a dessert of ice cream trimmed-out with a brownie. Volunteers sported Lowe's tool aprons while serving dinners, tables were decorated with pumpkins with house cut-outs and paper tool decorations, fun activity placemats offered entertainment, and a "Chinese Auction" gave ticket buyers over a dozen "prizes" to bid on (-see donors list below). Little or big builders were invited to wear their carpenter attire (or costumes).

Within the parish walls were the sounds of music, performed live for dining enjoyment. The performers were: Don and Annie Simpson, instrumentalists; the Oxford Academy Men's and Women's ensemble under the direction of Michael Moren, Nick Wakefield and Caden Izard sang and played guitars; and recording artist, Brian Murphy. Brian had his CDs for sale with all proceeds benefiting CCHH.

The Chinese Auction was for more than a dozen different donated items that ranged from great gift certificates to wonderful gift baskets. These items were generously donated by: First Edition Book Store, Wal-Mart, Linda Clark, Alice Herman, and Sandra Colton of Norwich; The Cheese Trap in Greene; and Oxford merchants: Hoppie’s, Oxford Motors LLC, Oxford Grooming, Blueox Corp, Gallery 3-2-1, Ye Olde Shanty Spirits, Kim Betts, Bartle’s Pharmacy, The Blue Lamp, and CCHH.

October 28th-29th: 13th annual Pumpkin Fest in East & West Parks - Norwich, NY. Local not-for-profits will be set-up in the large activity tent in the Community Carnival of Fun area. There are free activities for children, and Habitat will be there! CCHH is inviting kids to a Ball Toss to win a treat (-no tricks-). Hours on Fri., Oct. 28, from 5-9 pm and Sat., Oct. 29, from 11 am - 7 pm. The Festival will be held rain or shine. Donations greatly appreciated.

October 8th, 9 am - 3 pm: CCHH's Skillet Toss will be at the Grange's Harvest Celebration. Sponsored by the Smithville Valley Grange No. 1397; located behind the historic Smithville Community Center building in Smithville Flats, NY. Cost: $1 for 2 tosses. Donations greatly appreciated. Open to men, women and youth.

October 8th, 9th & 10th, 10 am - 4 pm: The Festival of Quilts Show 2011, at the Oxford Academy High School Gym, 50 South Washington Ave., Oxford, NY. A raffle takes place on the last day for the 2011 Opportunity Quilt is "Sparkling Star" custom quilted by Gretchen Adams (appraised at $1,900). A portion of the proceeds raised will benefit Habitat for Humanity, as well as Catholic Charities Domestic Violence Shelter, The Place, 4-H, and the Colorscape Art Festival. $1 donation/ticket or a $5 /6-tickets.
